Coal India’s 73,800 jobs at risk

New Delhi: With Coal India being the largest loser with 73,800 jobs at risk till 2050, globally coal miners face the harsh prospect of job layoffs due to scheduled mine closures and a market shift toward cheaper wind and solar power generation, whether or not their home country has a coal phase-out policy in place, a new report from Global Energy Monitor said on Tuesday. India, the world’s second-largest coal producer, has a workforce over four lakh miners.
